Yoga feels great, but too much yoga can cause micro-injuries to your joints and muscles, and make your practice uncomfortable.
What if you made your workout gentler by using the warming balm Zen in the City on “at-risk” or sensitive areas, before and after your practice?
Here are some usage tips to make classic yoga poses even more comfortable:
1) Downward-facing dog: watch out for your wrists and ankles!
To ease into your “downward-facing dog,” apply a little Zen in the City balm to your wrists and ankles, then massage/rub to warm them up. If your joints are still sensitive after your practice, repeat.
2) “Warrior” poses: guaranteed thigh warm-up
During traditional sun salutations, your thighs work hard. To avoid intense soreness after your practice, massage your thighs thoroughly with Zen in the City balm right afterwards.
3) Head balances and shoulder stand: protect your neck!
Head balances, usually done in the second half of a yoga class, are challenging, intense poses where you need to protect your neck (especially if you’re putting weight on the top of your head to come up into balance). To help warm up your neck, apply Zen in the City to your upper back and neck before going upside down.
4) Spinal twists: working the obliques
After a yoga class, it’s not uncommon to feel pain below the arms (oblique back muscles). Twists, usually done at the end of class, are very intense poses and you shouldn’t force them. To relieve the soreness that can result, apply Zen in the City to your obliques after your practice. The warming effect will soothe the pain.
